Grade 5 titanium (Ti 6Al-4V), normally called "6-4", is the
most common and most used grade. Characterized by good weldability, it can be heat treated for greater strength or toughness.
Its corrosion resistance is generally comparable to Grade 2 and is often used in corrosive environments where greater strength is required. Thanks to its high yield, minimum 895 Mpa, it is widely used in the construction of shafts,
high strength bolts and keys.
Also used in aircraft components such as landing gear, wing spars and compressor blades.
